This script tool uses the Enneagram scheme in a totally new way – as a structural model.

The well-known structural models 5-Act-Structure, 3-Act-Structure, 8-Sequence-Method and 12 stages (The Hero’s Journey) are well established for a good reason. They are superbly suited to visualize temporal processes within a closed dramatic system (i.e. structural system). These acts or sequences, turning points and proportion relationships within a system, enable you to scrutinize and optimize the structural quality of a script, in all it’s working stages and in the analysis of a finished work.

This script tool offers you a new structural model. It differs from all other methods in three essential and fundamental aspects:

First, it does not depict the course of the plot in a line but a circle. In this way, it visualizes the idea that a plot should be seen in it’s entirety. After the beginning, there follows a development, and then the end referring back to the beginning.

Secondly, the Enneagram looks at the plot directly from the perspective of the protagonist. All other structural models offer only an outside view of the plot.

Thirdly, all previous models are only suitable for works with a closed (Aristotelian) dramaturgy, because they are based upon the causal relationship of scenes. With the Enneagram structural model, scenarios with an open dramaturgy can also be visualized, because the Enneagram is well able to depict fragmentary narration, too.
